Each week we will be creating a masterpiece to take home. As this is a zoom class this semester, we may be able to spend 2 weeks on a class to make sure it is just right.
We will learn basics about colors and mixing. Also valuable for any skill level.

Our paintings will be brand new this semester. We will still vary in our paintings from beaches to mountains and sunsets, animals, flowers and more. Also! Several pieces will be created around different themes and holidays (Fall, Winter, Halloween, etc.)
Parents and kids can also paint canvases that join together (just ask me about this).

**I will have an economical materials list of all things you will need for this class. I will include links where I can.

***If you want to purchase special canvases and unique wood from me, the materials fee is $25. I can drop off the canvas/wood or you can pick up from me.

Join me for a weekly virtual escape room! I will use a variety of different types of virtual locks (directional, numerical, alphabetical and key) to guide you to escape! In our ZOOM classroom I will be able to share my screen which will show the current puzzle. Students will be able to “write” on the screen and discuss possible outcomes to solve the puzzles. Together they will work through the puzzles and race against the clock. I’ll be actively facilitating the “escape room” and will make sure everyone has a chance to be involved in the puzzle solving. Each week we will have a different set of clues for the students to work through and figure out in order to discover each lock’s unique combination, and if the teams get all of the locks open within the allotted time period, they WIN! The themes of the escape rooms will change weekly and we will cover a variety of puzzle skills! Come and BREAKOUT with me 🙂

Skills needed: Critical thinking and have the ability to work together with others.

**I’m still hopeful to be able to schedule an actual escape room field trip for the end of the semester!**

We have had a great time learning about our Ancient Civilizations. This semester we are focusing on a more modern history and closer to home. The American Revolution!!! We will continue to use the History Pockets program as the basis for this class as in past semesters. This class is designed for upper elementary or lower middle school leveled students. My classes for this level are a mix of lecture, discussion and a few projects. Since we will be online, we will not have group work. I will however still encourage students to present their work, opinions, or knowledge in each class. This helps with confidence and public speaking! We will cover main topics of the Revolutionary time such as the causes of the war, battles, spies and how the war shaped the America we live in today. We will also do some in depth focus on specific people/events and learn some lesser-known facts and stories. For those that do not know me, this will be my 4th semester to teach history at HOP. I have a BA in history and have been an online teacher to students in China for the past few years. I am comfortable running an online class and welcome the opportunity to keep our children engaged in the community during these trying times. I love to engage the students and keep the classes structured but fun. I lead the classroom with a positive example at all times and find that children learn best when they are smiling! If you have questions, please let me know!

Private violin lessons – I am available for a total beginner as well as varying levels of experience! I like to start my beginner students using a modified Suzuki Method (www.suzukiassociation.org) – as a former student of this method (I was 2 years old when I started playing the violin), I know the pros and cons, which is why I blend the beginning Suzuki books with more of an emphasis in learning how to read music than a traditional Suzuki teacher would. I also do not have a set teaching “curriculum”. I work with each student and figure out the best way to help that student progress, so I won’t give you a structured schedule of progression – That will be entirely up to the player 😉 I have taught children as young as 3, and have taught adults of varying ages. My goal is to help encourage the interest in playing, and support the love of music in general!
