Intro to Public Speaking and Crazy Strange History (Heather Smith-Levin)
Ages: 11-18
Fee: $70
Email: Heathertsl@yahoo.com
Crazy Strange History / Intro to Public Speaking.
This is a new kind of class where the students will learn the basics of public speaking and presentation. They will gain valuable skills and increase their confidence. Each student will be speaking to the class most periods.
They will also do research and presentations to the class.
It will be extremely important that the topics researched are of the interest of the students. Nothing will be forced.
Students will also be paired up and research an agreed upon subject. Then they will speak publicly to the class. We will then spend the class discussing their research and answering questions.
This class will not only work on their public speaking skills, but will also be an introduction to research: looking up different sources, double checking with different sources to confirm accuracy. The students will utilize You Tube, libraries, internet, books, relatives, and more.
Students will be required to bring a notebook to class to make notes.
Students will also be encouraged to bring visuals for their presentation.
Cost of class is $70 per person.
Kick Back and “Color” to Meditative Music (Lisa Casey)
Ages: 6-adult
Fee: $100 plus $30 non-refundable materials fee
Email: lisacasey3333@gmail.com
If you and your child(ren) are tired after a long day of HOP classes, then why not set aside some time to relax with meditating, coloring, and creating to calming music. Each week, we will start with some relaxation techniques such as a guided meditation and breathing. Then, we will learn about the coloring theme of the week, and use different art materials to create our “chill style” masterpieces. Feel free to bring a yoga mat or blanket to relax upon while you work.
What this class IS: A quiet, peaceful space for coloring, creating, and relaxing after a full day of classes. A meditative journey into stillness, creativity, and mindfulness.
What this class is NOT: A loud, social scene where parents chat or sit on their phones while kids do whatever they want. If parents and kids take the class together, parents will sit and work beside their kiddos.
There are countless benefits to coloring and creating that include: relieving stress and anxiety, stimulating imagination, developing fine motor skills, improving hand strength for writing, and building confidence with creativity.
