For readers of Percy Jackson (though not a requirement for the class). If you enjoy the mythologies of the Greeks and Romans we will have fun.
Each week we will learn about a different God or Goddess. For some of them I will read aloud the story using books like:
* Introduction to Greek Mythology for Kids: A Fun Collection of the Best Heroes, Monsters, and Gods in Greek Myth (Greek Myths) by Richard Marcus (Author), Natalie Buczynsky (Author)
* D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths by Ingri d’Aulaire and Edgar Parin d’Aulaire
I will bring projects of some kind related to the story or area of power we are discussing.
I will also encourage one or more of the learners each week to share what they know and what they remember from Percy Jackson if they have read these books.
As a big reader and with the name Andromeda I have read a lot about mythology over the years. When my kids recently read all the Percy Jackson books I got into the subject with them again and found how much I loved it all over again. I hope to have an enjoyable time with the learners.
