Come paint with us! Any skill level welcome.
Each week we will be creating new art to take home. As this is a zoom class this semester, we may be able to spend 2 weeks on a class to make sure it is just right.

We will learn the basics about colors and mixing. Also valuable for any skill level.

Our paintings will be brand new this semester. We will still vary in our paintings from beaches to mountains and sunsets, animals, flowers and more. Also! Several pieces will be created around different themes and holidays (Winter, spring, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, etc.)
Parents and kids can also paint canvases that join together (just ask me about this).

**I will have an economical materials list of all things you will need for this class. I will include links where I can.
***I will be missing one class this semester, this absence has been worked into the overall price of the class.

AMERICAN HISTORY (MELISSA HANNA)
Ages: 6-9
Cost: $60
Email: melissaleehanna@gmail.com

America History- The Move West
This online zoom class will pick up just after the American Revolution. This age group does best with short lectures followed by a project or game to help reinforce the lesson. I use the Evan-Moor History Pockets as the base curriculum for class. This curriculum provides us with many crafts and project ideas. A few topics we will cover in this class will include Thomas Jefferson and Lewis and Clark. We will travel the Oregon Trail and talk about the troubles the pioneers encountered as they explored the wilderness. We will finish up with the Gold Rush and settling the Far West. I do not expect reading during class but will give the students many opportunities to practice speaking (and listening to others) during the classes. I make sure each child is given attention during class but will not spotlight any child that does not like that attention.
For those that do not know me, I have been teaching children online for 3 years. I have taught several history courses at HOP both in person and online. I have a BA in History and truly enjoy sharing the stories and fun of the past. I find joy in seeing children learn and LOVE to encourage children to WANT to learn. I am open to talking, questioning and debating during my classes…but there is always structure and framework that we stay in during the classes. I look forward to seeing everyone again this Spring!

AMERICAN HISTORY (MELISSA HANNA)
Ages: 9-13
Cost: $60
Email: melissaleehanna@gmail.com

America History- The Move West
This online zoom class will pick up just after the American Revolution. We will review what life was like in the late 1700s, early 1800s in the new country of America. The topics we will cover in this class will include Thomas Jefferson and the exploration of Lewis and Clark. We will travel the Oregon Trail and talk about the troubles the pioneers encountered as they explored the wilderness. We will finish up with the Gold Rush and settling the Far West.

As always, the style of class will be mostly lecture-based with many opportunities for students to engage, add to class and ask questions. I do not assign homework, but we will have a few opportunities where extra work will be encouraged and shared with the class. I use the Evan-Moor History Pockets as the base curriculum for class.

It’s fun to experience cultures different from your own and helps us grow to understand one another through the unique expressions of art! In this semester we will focus on Native Americans of North America and then move into Mexico & Central America. I’ve always loved learning about these cultures and have done quite a bit of traveling to many ruins and ancient dwellings in Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and also across the U.S! I am open to any age range for this class but please use your own judgement because we will be using some tools that may require help from a nearby adult. Most of the supplies will be provided (and prepped) but some common items will be needed like a hole punch, stapler, scissors, glue, tape, markers, crayons, paint, and a pencil. Looking forward to sharing these great traditions and cultures with you!

Something evil is trapping the souls of the dead and draining life from all who have been raised from death by magic. The source of this death curse lies in a trap-riddled tomb hidden beneath a lost city in the depths of a vast jungle.
